I realize i have not blogged in a while. April was nothing exciting at all. i had exams and lots of em along with some group projects and assignments. i didn't want to bore you with the general stress and hair pulling that is involved with exams, because I'm sure you've gone through it and know it well yourself.
So! instead lots of talk about Mr. John Mayer. he was in Edmonton on Saturday.
Saturday also happened to be my last exam. Eldon, Shane, Jeremy and and Alan came up from Calgary for the concert. They of course were sitting first row! they for sure had an amazing time, but my seats in row 18 in the stands were just as good (well not really, but i still had a good time!)
One word can sum up the concert.. amazing. The lights, the guitar solos, the music... everything came together for an amazing show. One of the best concerts i have ever been to and it was a great, mellow, friggin awesome end to a month of stress.
Now, of course there is the gross story involved. Shree and I were sitting at the end of the row... about 3 spots in was this REALLY drunk girl that was hella annoying throughout the concert. Right before the encore, she decides that the alcohol in her stomach shouldn't be there anymore and pukes up everywhere! So, for the encore, Shree, me and 2 other people stood in the aisle. Then! the girl had the nerve to come back in and stand in front of us to catch the encore. Good ol security came and escorted her out. Don't worry, it didn't taint John... it just gave me a story to tell :)
I'm off to Toronto and Ottawa on Friday. I will make sure to blog more this summer! Have fun!
Thanks to Danny for intro-ing me to Najubes. Don't know much about him yet other than he is a Japanese hip-hop producer. Yes yes, i was skeptical at first as well - Japanese and hip hop? But i must say i was blown away.
He combines the amazing beats of hip hop with the silky smooth-ness of Jazz. Take a listen, here is a link to his MySpace page.
Super chills and super talented.
Enjoy!
the week of hell is over! i am so happy. i survived 2 midterms, a quiz, assignments, group meetings, an essay, elections.
Carol, Kelley, Jason and I went to the k-os concert tonight. it was my second time going to a k-os concert and there was one similarity. The venuae was different (at the Starlite Room), the opening band was different (Magenta Lane), the songs were different (off the new album Atlantis). The one similarity was that K-os took 2 hours to come out! He came out almost 2 hours after the opening band. Needless to say my heels are numb and uber tired but the show was a good one. There was a lot of ganja smoking in the audience..and my clothes kinda reek now.
BUT! It was the perfect end to the week of hell.

Thursday was the MARIAH CAREY CONCERT! and it was AMAZING! it was just so good. i went to the concert after a super long day at school and was tired and very unexcited for the concert.... but lo and behold i was totally pumped and super excited once the show started.
Busta Rhymes opened for her. It was comedy because there were so many un-hip-hop white people there and a lot of older women too. they did not take too kindly to Busta spittin his rhymes, his swearing or his crotch rubbing (who are we kidding, i did not take too kindly to the rubbing either). He pumped up the crowd and got the blood flowing.
Then mimi herself came on - in sparkly bra and panties. although her outfit choices throughout the show were questionable (she also wore a tube top and mini skirt), the show was AMAZING! man can she sing! and she did every song! i thought she would just do the new album, but she did all of the classics too with remixes and covers. it was just fantastic! i'm so glad i went to the concert!
